2. Is this calculator official?
No. This tool is only an estimate based on assumed fitment factor, HRA and DA. It does not represent any official order or commitment of the Government of India.
3. How is my new basic pay calculated?
Your basic pay is multiplied by the selected fitment factor and then rounded to the nearest ₹100 to arrive at the estimated 8th CPC basic pay.
4. Why do we use different fitment factors?
Different fitment factors (2.28, 2.86, 3.00 etc.) help you check multiple scenarios such as conservative, moderate or aggressive salary hike expectation under 8th CPC.
5. How is HRA calculated here?
For X, Y and Z cities, HRA is calculated as a fixed percentage of 8th CPC basic pay (27%, 18% or 9%). If you choose Custom HRA, the exact amount you enter is directly added.
6. What about NPS deduction?
If you enable NPS, the calculator deducts employee contribution as a percentage of Basic + DA for both present and 8th CPC salary to show approximate in-hand pay.

Income tax depends on many factors (age, regime, deductions). To keep this tool simple, you can enter your average monthly tax deduction, which is subtracted from gross salary.
8. Can state government employees use this calculator?
This calculator is designed mainly around the Central Government pay matrix. Many states follow a similar structure, but actual figures may differ as per state rules.
9. Does this include pension calculation?
No. This tool focuses on in-service salary. Pension, gratuity and leave encashment calculations need separate rules and calculators.
