Digital SAT® Score Calculator 2025 — Convert Module Scores to 200–800 Section Scores & Compare to Top College Ranges
This guide explains how to use the slider calculator, shows a sample raw→scaled conversion, lists admitted-student SAT ranges for top schools, and provides an 8-week study plan to raise your score.
Quick summary
Use the interactive module sliders (Reading & Writing Module 1 & 2, Math Module 1 & 2) to estimate your raw correct totals. This article shows:
- How we map raw totals to section scaled scores (200–800)
- Example conversion table and a sample scoring curve
- Top-college admitted-student ranges so you can compare instantly
- An 8-week study plan to gain +50–200 points (realistic incremental goals)
How the Digital SAT score mapping works (simple explanation)
The Digital SAT uses two modules per section: Reading & Writing (27 + 27 = 54 total questions) and Math (22 + 22 = 44 total questions). Each section is scaled to a 200–800 score. To estimate a scaled score from raw totals we map raw-correct percentages to the 200–800 range using a percentile-shaped function. Because the College Board’s official raw→scaled lookup table can change across administrations, our calculator uses a conservative approximation designed for planning and practice tracking.
Important: This tool is an estimate — it’s ideal for practice and goal setting but not an official score. Always rely on College Board reports for final scores.
Raw → Scaled conversion example (sample table)
Below is a practical example demonstrating how raw totals map to scaled section scores using an approximate conversion. Use it to validate your calculator result.
| Section | Raw correct (example) | Percent correct | Estimated scaled (200–800) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reading & Writing (out of 54) | 28 | 52% | 520 |
| Reading & Writing (out of 54) | 40 | 74% | 680 |
| Math (out of 44) | 22 | 50% | 500 |
| Math (out of 44) | 34 | 77% | 690 |
How to read: If you answered ~40/54 correct across Reading & Writing, your estimated EBRW scaled score would be ~680.

Practical 8-week SAT improvement plan (target +100 points)
This plan assumes 8 weeks of structured work (~6–8 hours per week). Adjust weekly targets based on your baseline.
Weeks 1–2: Diagnostic & Foundations
- Take a full-length digital practice test under timed conditions. Record raw module totals (4 modules).
- Analyze errors: build an error log with question type, misconception, time spent.
- Drill fundamentals: algebra basics, grammar rules, reading passage strategies.
Weeks 3–4: Focus & Strategy
- Target weakest section 3 days per week, second weakest 2 days per week.
- Timed module practice (27/22 question sets). Work on time pacing and calculator use.
- Weekly mini-test: 1 module of RW + 1 module of Math under time to measure progress.
Weeks 5–6: Mixed Practice & Error Repair
- Full-section practice and mixed drills. Focus on common trap questions and data interpretation.
- Review error log weekly and eliminate recurring mistakes.
- Start full timed practice every 10–14 days.
Weeks 7–8: Test Simulation & Taper
- Take 2 full digital practice tests (simulate test day). Review and finalize test day strategy.
- Maintain targeted drills but reduce volume the final week to stay fresh.
- Use relaxed, short review sessions the day before the test.

Notes for Indian & International test-takers
Indian students often juggle school exams and SAT prep. Key tips:
- Schedule practice tests during school vacations to avoid overload.
- Know score-send rules and submission deadlines for U.S. colleges — plan test dates 6–8 weeks before application deadlines.
- Consider coaching for targeted sections if funding permits; otherwise use high-quality official practice and topic-specific drills (algebra, grammar, reading comprehension).

Frequently asked questions
- Is this calculator exact?
- This calculator gives a realistic estimate. Official scaled scores are published by the College Board and can vary by test administration. Use this tool for planning, not for official reporting.
- Which curve should I pick: Digital or Legacy?
- Choose Digital for modern practice tests that follow module format (27/27 & 22/22). Choose Legacy only when converting old paper practice tests.
- How often should I take a practice test?
- Take a full-length practice test every 2–3 weeks to measure progress. Use focused module practice in between.

How to read these ranges
These columns show approximate admitted-student ranges (25th–75th percentile). If your estimated SAT total and section scores are within or above these ranges, your academic profile is generally competitive. Admission, however, depends on many factors beyond test scores: GPA, coursework, essays, recommendations, extracurriculars, and fit.
